Background
Elongator Acetyltransferase Complex Subunit 4 (ELP4) is a multiprotein complex associated with the RNA polymerase II (Pol II) holoenzyme, and which is involved in transcriptional elongation involved in the pathway 5-methoxycarbonylmethyl-2-thiouridine-tRNA biosynthesis. The elongator complex catalyzes formation of carboxy methyluridine in the wobble base at position 34 in tRNAs. Diseases associated with ELP4 include Aniridia 2 and Coloboma of Optic Nerve. Among its related pathways are Mesodermal Commitment Pathway and Chromatin organization.
