Background
Serine/threonine-protein phosphatase 2B catalytic subunit beta isoform (PP2BB) is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PPP3CB gene. This subunit may have a role in the calmodulin activation of calcineurin. It is a calmodulin-stimulated protein phosphatase which plays an essential role in the transduction of intracellular Ca2+-mediated signals. It can dephosphorylates and activates transcription factor NFATC1, and dephosphorylates and inactivates transcription factor ELK1.
