Background
LSD2, also known as AOF1, is a Lysine (K)-specific demethylase that is encoded by the KDM1B gene in human. LSD2 demethylates 'Lys-4' of histone H3, a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional activation, thereby acting as a corepressor. LSD2 demethylates both mono- and Dimethylated 'Lys-4' of histone H3. It acts by oxidizing the substrate by FAD to generate the corresponding imine that is subsequently hydrolyzed.
