Background
Mediator of RNA polymerase II transcription subunit 30 (MED30) is an enzyme, encoded by the MED30 gene in human. It represents subunit Med30 of the Mediator complex and is metazoan-specific with no homologues in yeasts. It is a coactivator involved in the transcription regulation of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. Mediator functions as a bridge to convey information from gene-specific regulatory proteins to the basal RNA polymerase II transcription machinery.
